Evidence

Evidence is what a record rests on: a declaration, an external reference, a demonstrated control, or a recorded event. ECZ-ID labels which is which, so a reader never mistakes a claim for proof.

Accountability Chain:Current stateReceiptEvidence

Not all statements are evidence

KindExampleWeight
DeclarationA trading name, a .well-known pointerSays what the operator states. Proves nothing.
External referenceA legal name matched to Companies House on a stated dateAs good as the register and the date.
Demonstrated controlA binding proven through a Core challengeCurrent-state evidence with a re-check date.
Recorded eventA Receipt, optionally anchored in LedgerCoreProves what the recording system recorded.

Share assets are not proof

The live record classifies its own derivative surfaces. A trust card is a human share asset. A QR code only routes to the live Resolver. A printed or PDF snapshot can become stale. None of them is proof; each says “always verify live”.

Handle evidence by reference

Keep identifiers, digests and the time you read them. Do not copy record fields into your own systems as if they were current, and never republish a field the record does not consent to publish. The evidence handling guide covers this in detail.

This page is explanation, not authority. Current state is only ever the live Resolver record. Live facts on this page were measured read-only on 2026-10-10.
